CAMP Administrative Assistant Positions

REUFinder.com is a quick and easy way for students to find research opportunities. The site is divided into pages that list REU opportunities by year (freshmen, sophomore, junior and seniors as well as specific populations such as community college, international students, and undocumented students). REU Finder seeks to minimize extensive google searches to make it easy for students to identify programs that might be a good fit for.
NSF-Funded Research Experiences for Undergraduates
The Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program supports active research participation by undergraduate students in any of the areas of research funded by the National Science Foundation. REU projects involve students in meaningful ways in ongoing research programs or in research projects specifically designed for the REU program. The search page is meant to help scholars search for an REU site throughout the country.

These are all FULLY FUNDED opportunities including programs sponsored by NSF, NASA, NIH, etc. We also have a selection of resources to help you strengthen your applications. Scholarships
GeneTex Scholarship Program
GeneTex believes in accelerating scientific advancement and the notion that the genesis of future discoveries begins with the support of young scientists now. The GeneTex Scholarship Program will award a $2000 (USD) scholarship to students pursuing a STEM undergraduate or graduate degree. The scholarship will be awarded to one student twice a year. Bill H. James Scholarship for Aspiring African-American Engineers
Undergraduate students must be entering their Junior or Senior year of study during the 2022-2023 academic year, carry a minimum of 12 units per semester/quarter, and a minimum GPA of 3.2. Click here to learn more and apply.

Gen and Kelly Tanabe Scholarship
The Gen and Kelly Tanabe Scholarship is a merit-based program that helps students fulfill their dreams of higher education. The scholarship is named for Gen and Kelly Tanabe, best-selling authors on education, whose generous donations fund this program. The first-place award is a $1,000 Scholarship. NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) Year-Round Internship Program
The JPL Year-Round Internship Program offers part-time and full-time internship opportunities at JPL during the academic year as well as summers to undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. As part of their internships, students are partnered with JPL scientists or engineers, who serve as the students’ mentors. Click here to learn more and apply.
Maximizing Student Potential in STEM
Maximizing Student Potential in STEM, or MSP, aims to foster diversity by increasing the participation of underrepresented and underserved students in STEM disciplines as well as students with a record of supporting diversity and inclusion by providing part-time and full-time fellowship opportunities at JPL. As part of their fellowships, students are partnered with JPL scientists or engineers, who serve as the students’ mentors. Students complete designated projects outlined by their mentors, gaining educational experience in their fields of study while also contributing to NASA and JPL missions and science. Naval Research Enterprise Internship Program (NREIP)
The Naval Research Enterprise Internship Program (NREIP) places college and university students in Department of Navy (DoN) laboratories where they take part in real Naval research for ten weeks during the summer. NREIP gives academically talented college students, graduating seniors, and graduate students pursuing STEM careers the opportunity to learn about Naval research and technology while receiving first-class mentoring by top scientists and engineers. National Environmental Public Health Internship Program (NEPHIP) for Students
This internship is designed to allow students to gain a firsthand perspective on the day-to-day responsibilities of environmental health professionals, make invaluable connections with those working in the field, and consider careers working in state, tribal, local, or territorial environmental public health agencies following graduation. CDC National Surveillance Team Fellowship
The Enteric Diseases Epidemiology Branch (EDEB) collaborates with state and local health departments and other federal agencies to conduct surveillance for bacterial enteric diseases and related antimicrobial resistance occurring in the United States. The National Surveillance Team conducts surveillance of multiple enteric conditions including listeriosis, botulism, salmonellosis, shigellosis, campylobacteriosis, cholera, vibriosis, typhoid and paratyphoid fever, and E. coli. Learn to provide technical assistance to partners for routine access and use of cloud-based platforms for reporting enteric pathogens, including Listeria, Salmonella spp., and Escherichia coli. CDC Public Health Laboratory Data Scientist Fellowship
Under mentor guidance, the fellow will be trained in public health molecular biology laboratory data management and analysis. The fellow may learn how to apply their academic education involving computer science to meet user needs and policy requirements in a laboratory setting. The fellow will support laboratory databases that are centralized, standardized, scalable, allow process automation, meet regulatory requirements, integrate studies and assay platforms, ensure data integrity, and configured to meet end user needs. CDC Vector-Borne Bacterial Diseases Entomology and Ecology Internship
The Entomology and Ecology Team is responsible for public health and research activities aimed at assessing when and where people are at risk for vector-borne bacterial diseases, including Lyme disease, relapsing fever, plague, and tularemia, and designing and evaluating prevention strategies. The selected fellowship participant will participate in tick testing to support national tick surveillance efforts. The fellow will be trained in nucleic acid extraction, amplification, next generation sequencing, analysis, data and specimen management and reporting. Click here to learn more and apply.

Did You Know…
Did you know that the UCI Department of Chemistry offers FREE peer tutoring via Zoom to students taking General Chemistry courses such as Chem 1A or Chem 1B. The department also has another set of peer tutors that can assist with Organic Chemistry (Chem 51B). It is important to utilize these resources as they are meant to help you be successful in the course! The Department of Physics also has free tutoring for Physics 2, 7 series, and 3 series. The tutors are the teaching assistants (TAs) for the courses. Additionally, the Department of Mathematics also has TAs and graduate students offering free virtual tutoring for Math 1A/1B and Math 2A/2B.

NASA Astronaut Tracy Caldwell Dyson will video call AirUCI from the International Space Station at 1:00 pm Pacific time to answer questions the School of Physical Sciences have compiled over the last few weeks. Tracy is an honorary member and alumna of AirUCI and is now on her third trip to space. Although this date is confirmed, the event could be postponed due to the dynamic nature of operations aboard the International Space Station. Click here to watch the livestream.
