The Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) Bridge to the Doctorate (BD) Program provides fellowship support to a cohort of 12 LSAMP students for the first two years of their STEM graduate studies. The purpose of the BD Program is to enhance the diversity of STEM graduate education by recruiting, enrolling, training, and graduating a cohort of 12 talented doctoral students. The program will provide a robust set of graduate student opportunities that promote mentorship and leadership in STEM communities. These include workshops on such topics as writing technical reports and papers, learning the culture of the laboratory, building peer and professional relationships, planning for advancement to candidacy, successful grant writing, and presenting your work.
Recipients of the BD Fellowship receive the following benefits:
- $30,000 award per year for two years
- Paid tuition and fees for two years
- Assistantship support after the two years of the BD Fellowship Program
Please note that only active LSAMP students are eligible for the fellowship because most programs require a verification letter from your LSAMP director. Below is a list of the universities that offer or have offered the Bridge to the Doctorate Fellowship Program.
