The CAMP Summer Research Scholars Program is a 10-week program that enables UCI students to conduct research at UCI or various research centers during the summer. Under the mentorship of a faculty research advisor, students are introduced to the challenging and fascinating world of academic research. Furthermore, students may prepare a presentation and present their findings at various conferences throughout the year. Summer Scholars have gone on to present at conferences around the country in cities such as Boston, Miami, Chicago, St. Louis, New Orleans, Austin, and many others!
In addition to the mentorship of a faculty research advisor, students have the opportunity to learn and build on the basics of research writing and presentation. Below are topics that will be covered during the program:
- Putting together an abstract
- Critical/Analytical Thinking
- Adventures in poster making
- Graduate School (Is it for you?)
- Writing a scientific paper
- Writing a personal statement
- Social Skills 101
Upon completion of the program, participants are required to submit a 10-12 page research paper (due Week 0 of Fall 2018). Participants will also present their findings at the CAMP Undergraduate Symposium, Tuesday of Week 0. After the submission of the scientific paper, the presentation, and the survey students may be awarded a stipend.
The application period for the Summer Research Scholars Program is currently closed, please check back March 2018.
